Access to timely and quality health care is a key determinant of one's health status. Over 50% of the Latino population in the Inland Empire is underinsured or uninsured. Even those having insurance coverage may experience significant delay in receiving health care. We are committed to strengthening and enhancing the public and private health system so that everyone, including those without insurance, can have timely access to health care. Currently, the organization implements a Health Access program with the goal of increasing enrollment and usage (navigation) of health system of children (0-5 yrs).  This program is funded by First 5 San Bernardino.

Additionally, the Latino Health Collaborative is leading a coalition of community clinics, academic institutions and community-based organizations in the implementation of Specialty Care Improvement Program-SCIP, with the goal of guiding communities in the design and implementation of a comprehensive community-driven action-oriented assessment that results in a strategic plan to address barriers to specialty care services. Expected outcomes include a community-driven three-year strategic plan to increase access and/or supply and/or reduce demand for specialty care for uninsured/ underinsured population, as well as a detailed report on assets, location, and services of primary health care providers (safety net) as well as specialty care services. We are grateful to Kaiser Permanente for its support of this initiative.

We have also supported Cultural Assessments of Health Organizations. Using a comprehensive participatory appreciative inquiry model, institutions are guided through a diagnostic of the quality of care through the lense of cultural competence,to develop strategies and solutions to identified gaps in service.
